Children face ‘agonising’ waits for mental health care

A BBC news report on UK TV today.

Children struggling with mental health problems during the pandemic are facing “agonisingly” long waits for treatment, a BBC investigation has found.

Data from half of England’s services found one in five seen in the past year waited over 12 weeks for care.

The situation has got so bad that parents and head teachers told the BBC they had lost faith in the system.

And doctors reported distressed children were ending up at A&E as they had no where else to go.
